Voyageur Council Commissioner's Quality Award

Contributed by rainbow7 on Jun 01, 2009 - 05:00 PM

This is a very easy award to attain.  If your section is meeting the program standards your section could earn a pennant for your flag.  I have processed 2 colonies and a pack already this year but I'm sure many more would qualify.

Check out the prerequisites on the Council website.  Build the qualifications into your program during your planning meeting in September.  Ask a Service Scouter to review the information in March 2010 for processing.  The approval should be complete in time for you to present the award to your section leaders at your year end ceremonies.

Don't Move Firewood

Contributed by rainbow7 on Jun 01, 2009 - 01:00 PM

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has declared the City of Ottawa a place infected with the Emerald Ash Borer.  They are running a campaign that reads:

Don't Move Firewood

Moving firewood, even just a few kilometres away, can spread invasive insects and diseases to our forests.  Buy it locally.  Burn it on site.  Never bring it back home.
